Disappearing Act…

My apologies for the lack of posts yesterday afternoon.  We raced up to the bay area to look at an apartment and…we got it!!!  The unit is part of a cute old home in Alameda, a small island in San Francisco’s east bay.  The area is famous for its charming tree-lined streets and historic Victorian homes.  We’ll be walking distance to the beach, a dog park for Alfred, and the adorable downtown district complete with an art deco movie theater built in the 1930’s.  Plus the island is a very flat 12 square miles—ideal for bike rides (vintage Schwinn with a wicker basket, yes please)!  We move in mid-July (one week before the wedding).  It’s going to be a whirlwind, but I’m so happy and relieved everything is falling into place.  Lots more posts to come today, but I just wanted to fill you in on the good news!  Thank you for all your sweet comments yesterday—they kept me entertained during the eight hours in the car! xx Katie

Oh, I’m so glad it all worked out! I never made it to Alameda last year (I really wanted to go to the flea market at least once. . .), but it sounds lovely.

Thank you everyone! I fear my pictures was misleading—we will not be living in the Victorian above, but another home nearby. We’re so excited for the big move! xx

I have so many memories of Alameda. I used to go to the Alameda beach with the huge park next to it all the time as a kid. Not the greatest beach but a beach with cat’s tails and park benches and a whole lot of memories. Congratulations!

Colleen — PLEASE move out west. I would die. Coffee runs and dog walks–yess!

Mariel — I don’t know the exact name of the theater, but it’s been beautifully restored and still shows films : http://bit.ly/dq3Tvb

Joanna — Probably won’t be sharing pictures till after the move and wedding, but I will take tons! I’m so excited to decorate! xx
