Books for Design Lovers

I’ve enjoyed reading so much lately (many thanks for your recommendations!) and am looking forward to tackling many more books in 2015. Above is a selection of design books (some new, some old…) I’m hoping to devour in the new year. Let me know of any I should add!

1. The Monocle Guide to Good Business – I admire everything Monocle publishes! Hoping this will inspire me as I grow Buddy Editions… // 2. A Field Guide to American Houses – Love the look of this updated classic! Time to brush up on my architectural history… // 3. Restoring a House in the City – okay, so it’s a pipe dream, but this book has been on my Amazon wish list for years. Someday! // 4. The Essential Cy Twombly – this handsome tome was hailed as the “the ultimate overview of his work” and definitely belongs on my bedside table… // 5. Nicky Haslam: A Designer’s Life – I plan to pre-order this gem coming out in March. A must-have for anyone that loves English decoration. Haslam is the man behind many of my favorite interiors. // 6. The Wes Anderson Collection: The Grand Budapest Hotel – calling all Wes Anderson fans, a colorful book is now available for pre-order. If it’s half as visually stunning as the film we’re in for a treat.

I can’t believe it, the original edition of #2 A Field Guide to American Houses was the primary text book for a historical preservation class I took a few years back during my undergrad. It is a FANTASTIC read/reference book. I can’t recommend it enough, especially to anyone who has the slightest interest in architectural detail, preservation, or building.
