Jewel Box Stories

The Cut recently published a wonderful photo essay featuring six women sharing the stories of their lives through their most treasured jewelry. The photos of the gems are lovely and the anecdotes shared by each of the women will warm your heart. “We were married 38 years, and we started out very simply.” Read their stories here.

Such a beautiful story. My grandmother wore her jewels till the day she had to go into the hospital and later passed away. I miss her so much but I’m so lucky to have a few of her rings and earrings. I wore her earrings on my wedding day and I can’t wait to give them to my daughter one day. Ok, now I’m getting teary!

This is such a wonderful and beautiful story, I love it and I love the photos of the aged hands.

My wedding ring is the wedding band, and two sapphire eternity bands on either side, worn by the mother of my mother- in- laws best friend who was killed in a car accident age 29. After the daughter died my mother in law became like their daughter and in fact took care of this couple as they aged and eventually passed on.

There is something to be said for the history of a piece of jewelry.

Elizabeth – That is an incredible story. I love the idea of having a piece with such history someday. You must feel honored to wear the bands. Thanks so much for sharing.
