Saturday night my Dorset boy and I went to see Far From the Madding Crowd and I absolutely loved it. Novelist Thomas Hardy was from Dorset and the book and film are set in its stunning countryside. They’re releasing a Penguin Classic version of the book this month and I can’t wait to add it to my bookshelf. The trailers included Testament of Youth, which hit theaters on Friday. Based on British author Vera Brittain’s World War I memoir (she left her studies at Oxford to serve as a nurse), the film looks fantastic though heart-wrenching. I just ordered the book in hopes of reading it first. You can watch the Testament of Youth film trailer here. Have you read the book or seen the new film…? Would love to hear.
